Founded in 2020, we are a group women-identifying individuals dedicated to teaching and learning about the abundant harvestable foods in our community.

We focus on mostly urban foraging, taking advantage of the bounty of maintained agriculture in Southern California. When we do foray into wild areas, we focus on education, sustainability, and protection of these natural food sources (and the animals that rely on them).

  • All women-identifying individuals are welcome to join. Friends and family of current members are typically invited on our forays, refer to individual events for more information.

  • No! We welcome brand new and experienced foragers alike.

  • Not at all. Aside from a good pair of walking shoes and maybe a bag/basket, you don’t need much to start learning.

Check out our Resources Page if you’re curious to know what extra items we use.

  • Absolutely! We don’t require you to live here full-time in order to forage with us. Even if you’re just passing through, drop us a message to see what’s currently happening.

  • Many mushrooms and other plants are toxic. Please do not consume anything unless you can identify it 100%.

*** WFMHS is not responsible for what members choose to consume.

If you suspect you’ve eaten something toxic, contact the California Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222
